ABVP workers demonstrated during the Senate meeting at Purnia University (PU) on Friday.
Jagran correspondent, Purnia. Senate meeting was going on in Purnia University (PU) on Friday and there was an uproar by Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) workers outside. Later, some workers also became eager to enter the Senate hall and during this there was a scuffle between the police and the members.
ABVP alleged that there has been large-scale irregularities and corruption in the appointment of guest teachers made by Purnia Vidyalaya, Purnia in the past. This includes non-compliance with reservation roster, altering results and making appointments in violation of rules.
The issue that students were deprived of enrollment for about 730 seats in post-graduation enrollment was also raised strongly. Along with this, demands were made to ensure compliance of 100 point reservation roster, completion of enrollment process of PAT-2024 and PAT-2025 without any delay, inaccuracies in graduation mark sheets and original proofs, establishment of government B.Ed colleges, reduction in fees for B.Ed studies, opening of hostels in affiliated colleges which are currently closed. ABVP members accused the Vice Chancellor of adopting a dictatorial attitude.
ABVP Bihar Province Co-Minister Vinay Singh, Department Convenors Nitish Nikku and Amit Kumar Mandal and District Convenors were leading the protest. During this period, there was chaos in the university and there was strict police vigil at the gates. After opening the main gate of the university, all the workers reached the office premises.
After much effort, the agitating workers were thrown out of the university campus. Police personnel forcibly took out the workers. At the same time, the members of the House tried to convince the workers who were creating ruckus. Also appealed to Mike, but he was also not listened to.
Provincial Co-Minister Vinay Singh said that recently a video of the staff and principal of Marwari College Kishanganj also surfaced, in which an attempt to misbehave was made by the college principal and staff when the student leaders protested. Our demand is that such employee and principal should be suspended by taking the harshest action possible. Also, considering all our demands, the reinstatement of guest faculty should be canceled immediately.
Department convenor Nitish Nikku said that even after repeatedly submitting memorandum to the university administration, no concrete decision is taken, hence we ABVP workers have to resort to agitation. Later the Vice Chancellor assured to take favorable action on all the demands within four days. The agitators calmed down on this assurance.
