Jagran correspondent, Sonbhadra. The cold is increasing in this season. The coldest day so far this winter was recorded in the district on Wednesday. According to the Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature of the day was recorded at 21.6 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature was recorded at 6.0 degrees Celsius. The humidity level was 65 percent.

Cold winds and freezing cold from early morning till late night completely affected the life of common people. Due to low visibility the vehicles kept crawling. However, people got relief during the day due to sunlight coming out from around 9 am in the morning. Wednesday morning started with dense fog and cold winds.

Despite the sun coming out, the effect of cold did not diminish. People had to face melting due to mild sunlight and cold winds throughout the day. As the evening approached, the cold became more intense, due to which the markets and public places were less lively. People were seen wrapped in warm clothes and taking support of the bonfire.

The severe cold affected the elderly, children and poor sections the most. Children going to school in the morning had to struggle with the cold, while the problems of daily wage laborers and street vendors also increased. Due to cold there was less traffic on the roads in the morning and late evening. People were seen taking respite from the cold near bonfires at major intersections, bus stands, railway stations and market areas of the district.

However, there was resentment among the people due to lack of arrangements for bonfire at many places. In view of this increasing cold, doctors have advised people to be alert, wear warm clothes and adopt measures to prevent cold. According to meteorologists, the effect of cold may persist for the next few days. There is a possibility of further decline in the minimum temperature. In such a situation, the demand has started rising from the administration to speed up the arrangement of bonfire and blanket distribution for the needy. ----------- Something like this was the weather condition ------------- Date Maximum Minimum 25 December 20.4 9.826 December 20.5 7.427 December 20.2 7.028 December 18.8 9.029 December 16.6 9.630 December 19.8 7.031 December 21.6 6.0 ------------- Note: Maximum and minimum temperature in degrees Celsius.
