Jagran correspondent, Lucknow. A new system will be implemented for passengers traveling in the metro from Monday. Like Delhi Metro, QR code ticketing system will also be started in Lucknow Metro. Through the official app of Metro, passengers will be able to make tickets for their journey sitting at home. With this new system at the metro station, it will take less time for passengers to make tickets than before.
Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) MD Sushil Kumar will launch this new system from Hazratganj metro station at 10 am on Monday. About 80 thousand passengers travel every day on the North-South corridor between Chaudhary Charan Singh Airport and Munshipulia. Krishnanagar, Singarnagar, Hazratganj are among the busiest metro stations of this corridor, from where maximum number of passengers travel. At these metro stations, passengers have to stand in long queues to get tickets under the existing token system.
It takes half an hour to travel to these stations
At Singarnagar and Krishnanagar metro stations it takes up to half an hour. In such a situation, to make the journey of passengers smart, UPMRC ordered to implement QR code based ticketing system. Under the new system, passengers will be able to easily book QR tickets through Lucknow Metro's official mobile app, Ticket Vending Machine (TVM) or ticket counter.
On booking tickets through the official app, passengers will get a QR ticket in digital form on their mobile phones, which they can scan and enter when they reach the metro station. Similarly, paper QR tickets can be obtained from ticket counters and ticket vending machines.
Passengers traveling through QR ticket will be able to easily enter and exit the metro station by scanning the QR ticket at the Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) gate marked with yellow strip during entry and exit of the metro station. It will be mandatory to scan the QR ticket at the yellow stripe gate both at the time of entry and at the time of exit after completion of the journey.
Metro administration made preparations
The metro administration has installed new QR supporting ticket vending machines at all metro stations. At least one QR supported ticket vending machine and one QR ticket counter have been provided at each station. UPI payment facility will also be available on QR ticket vending machines. Token based travel facility will continue as before from other ticket vending machines.
