Police exposed inter-district gang
Jagran correspondent, Patna. Police has busted an inter-district gang involved in theft in trains and station premises at Patna Junction. A joint team of Railway Station Patna Junction, Railway Protection Force (RPF) and District Police took action and arrested 12 accused. During the raid, nine stolen screen touch mobiles, 79 kg of ganja and eight liters of English liquor were recovered. The action has exposed the criminal network operating in the station premises. Many important information has come to light after interrogating the arrested accused.
Two smugglers arrested with 79 kg ganja in Brahmaputra Mail Express
On Wednesday, based on secret information, a raid was conducted in train number 12658 Brahmaputra Mail Express. Two suspects were caught with 79 kg of ganja kept in two trolley bags. During interrogation, both of them admitted to smuggling ganja.
An FIR has been registered in this case under sections of the NDPS Act. According to the police, the ganja was to be brought from another state and sent further through Patna. The market value of the seized ganja is estimated to be lakhs of rupees.
Nine accused caught with stolen mobile phones on the platform
Nine suspects were caught from the western end of platform numbers four and six during a special investigation operation on Tuesday. During the search, nine stolen screen touch mobiles were recovered from them. During interrogation, the accused confessed to stealing bags, laptops, chains and other items from passengers in trains.
The gang members used to target crowded trains. Taking advantage of the carelessness of the passengers, they used to cross the luggage. A case has been registered in this matter under various sections of the Indian Justice Code.
Liquor smuggler arrested from platform number one
The joint team also arrested a liquor smuggler from the western end of platform number one. Eight liters of English liquor was recovered from him. Despite liquor ban in Bihar, smugglers were using the railway route.
Police have seized the liquor and registered a case under relevant sections. Surveillance has been made more strict in the station premises. Officials say that a continuous campaign will be conducted to stop crime in trains.
Criminal network exposed through joint operation
The network of inter-district gang has been exposed due to the joint action of Railway Station, RPF and District Police. The criminal history of the arrested accused is also being investigated. Police are also finding out where other gang members are active.
Additional forces have been deployed at stations and trains for the safety of passengers. CCTV footage is also being thoroughly investigated. The administration has appealed to the passengers to remain alert and report suspicious activity immediately.
