Jagran correspondent, Amritsar. Balwant Singh Rajoana, a supporter of Khalistan and convicted of the murder of former CM Beant Singh, has opposed the letter written by Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gadgaj to the MPs to raise the demand in Parliament to rename Veer Badal Day as Sahibzade Shahadat Day.

Balwant Singh Rajoana has written a letter to Sri Akal Takht Sahib. In which he has raised questions on the dignity of Sri Akal Takht Sahib itself. Balwant Singh Rajoana wrote in the letter - Shri Akal Takht Sahib has written a letter to the MPs of Punjab to change the name of Veer Bal Diwas to Sahibzade Martyrdom Day, so that this issue can be raised in the House.

But this question is creating boil in his mind. They want to respectfully ask that the voice of Shri Akal Takht Sahib has become so weak and helpless that it does not reach even the rulers of the country.

This letter reduces the importance of Takht

He further wrote - It is understandable for someone to write a letter to Shri Akal Takht Sahib, but asking MPs to write letters and raise their voice in the Parliament is going to reduce the importance of Shri Akal Takht Sahib. Of the MPs to whom letters have been written on behalf of the Jathedar, 7 are from Congress.

Who attacked Shri Akal Takht Sahib with tanks and cannons. Thousands of innocent youth, Sikhs and sisters were killed. An order should have been issued by Shri Akal Takht Sahib against the party which massacred 25 thousand Sikh youth on the soil of Punjab.

This letter is an insult to the martyrs

This letter is an insult to those martyrs who were martyred while fighting their oppression. It is because of the atrocities of these Congress leaders that we have been sitting in jail for 30 years and waiting for the death sentence to be completed for 19 years. Rajaona raised the question that Jathedar is seeking help from the forces oppressing Sikhs to change the name of Sahibzadas.

This attempt is to give the certificate of servitor of the Panth to the forces who brought down Shri Akal Takht Sahib.

Rajoana has suggested that if Sri Akal Takht Sahib has any objection to the name of Veer Bal Diwas and the Central Government is not paying attention to the suggestions sent, then issue an order that the Khalsa Panth will not participate in any gathering in the name of Veer Bal Diwas.

Sri Akal Takht Sahib does not need any oppressors. Organizations become great because of the decisions taken there. Instead of placing arrows on the shoulders of others, one should lead the work oneself.

Know what is the controversy

Sri Akal Takht Sahib has continuously demanded the Central Government to change the name of Veer Bal Diwas (26 December) to Sahibzade Martyrdom Day. Jathedar Giani Gadgaj Singh wrote a letter to Sikh MPs that this name does not give proper respect to Sikh dignity, history and the martyrdom of the younger Sahibzadas of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has also supported it. Punjab MPs have sent letters to the PM. But, the decision has not yet come from the Centre.
