State Bureau, Chandigarh. As soon as the election schedule for 37 Rajya Sabha seats of 10 states was announced, the contenders to contest the Rajya Sabha elections in Haryana have become active. Elections are to be held on two Rajya Sabha seats in Haryana. At present, BJP has Rajya Sabha members on both the seats.

Based on the numerical strength of MLAs in the 90-member Assembly, this time one seat will go to BJP and one seat to Congress. In the last two elections, due to cross-voting of Congress MLAs and technical reasons, independent candidates supported by BJP have been reaching Rajya Sabha.

These include Subhash Chandra and Karthikeya Sharma. Looking at the past history, it cannot be denied that if BJP realizes even a little, it can field an independent candidate with its support for the second seat held by Congress.

Elections will be held on March 16

Elections for two Rajya Sabha seats of Haryana are to be held on March 16. For this, candidates will have to file nominations by March 5. The tenure of two BJP Rajya Sabha members Ramchandra Jangra and Kiran Chaudhary is ending on April 9, due to which both these seats are falling vacant.

BJP does not give any indication about the candidate even till the end. Suddenly such a face is fielded in the elections, which cannot even be imagined. In the last elections, BJP had surprised everyone by sending Panchkula's Rekha Sharma to Rajya Sabha. This time too, it will not be surprising if a new name emerges.

Many names included in the race

In the political circles of BJP, former Chief Minister Late is currently running for Rajya Sabha. The name of Bhajan Lal's former MP son Kuldeep Bishnoi is in discussion. Last time too, Kuldeep had missed out on going to Rajya Sabha. Former Finance Minister Captain Abhimanyu is also among the contenders to go to Rajya Sabha.

Former MP of Ambala Late. The names of Ratanlal Kataria's wife Banto Kataria and former Sirsa MP Sunita Duggal along with former Karnal MP Sanjay Bhatia and former minister Manish Grover along with former minister Aseem Goyal are also being discussed.

Current Rajya Sabha member Kiran Choudhary will try to enter Rajya Sabha again. His daughter, former MP Shruti Choudhary, is a cabinet minister in the cabinet of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. There is more tussle for the Rajya Sabha ticket in the Congress, but no one expects him to win the election despite being declared a candidate. The names of Haryana Congress in-charge BK Hariprasad and former state president Chaudhary Udaybhan are the most discussed in the party.

External leaders will enter the field

The name of former Haryana Congress President Dr. Ashok Tanwar is also being taken. In the last elections, Congress had made senior leader Ajay Maken its candidate, but he lost due to cross voting. This time too, Congress can field an outside leader in the election battle of Haryana.

Names of former Union Minister Jairam Ramesh, spokesperson Pawan Kheda and Bihar Congress leader Kanhaiya Kumar are also being mentioned in political circles. Only the Congress candidate will be able to win the Rajya Sabha elections, whom former Chief Minister Bhupendra Singh Hooda and his MP son Deependra Singh Hooda would like.

Laddus in both hands of Gopal Kanda and Sushil Gupta

Haryana Lokhit Party President and former Minister of State for Home Gopal Kanda has laddus in both his hands. Gopal Kanda's party, who was the MLA of Sirsa, is part of the NDA alliance. Gopal Kanda is internally preparing to contest the Rajya Sabha elections.

Their preparation is similar to the way independent Subhash Chandra and Karthikeya Sharma reached Rajya Sabha while contesting elections with the support of BJP. If BJP wants, Gopal Kanda can also be fielded as an independent candidate.

Gopal Kanda also has a strong hold among Congress MLAs and has been considered close to Bhupendra Singh Hooda in the past. He also has good relations with Union Minister Manohar Lal.

Similarly, both BJP and Congress can also bet on Aam Aadmi Party state president and former Rajya Sabha member Dr. Sushil Gupta. Along with Sushil Gupta, Congress is also eyeing Kanda.
