Jagran correspondent, Rampur. Road accidents are increasing rapidly in the district. Since January, 50 people have died in road accidents, while 45 have been injured. Last year also, 301 people died in road accidents. Most of the accidents are happening due to ignoring traffic rules like three riders, without helmet etc. Apart from this, illegal cuts on the highway are also proving fatal.
While the distance between cities has reduced due to four-lane highways and bypasses in the district, accidents have increased due to vehicle speed and ignorance of traffic rules. Accidents are happening daily. Every month 25 people are losing their lives in these accidents. So many deaths in road accidents have become a matter of concern. According to government data for the year 2025, there were 494 accidents from January to December, in which 301 people died, while 337 people were injured.
Rampur Road Accident Report: Data Analysis
This year also the pace of accidents has remained the same. There have been 65 accidents since January. Of these, 50 people have died, while 44 people have been injured. Of these, in the month of January alone, 23 people lost their lives in 37 accidents, while 27 were injured. In 23 days of February, 27 people lost their lives in accidents.
In just two days, 10 people lost their lives, including three students who were going by bike to appear for the board exams. Their bike collided with a tractor trolley, resulting in the death of all three. One of his companions is injured. All four students were riding the same bike and none of them was wearing a helmet.
Traffic Inspector Rajeev Kumar said that seriousness is being taken to prevent accidents. Every month a meeting of the Road Safety Committee is called, in which the District Magistrate directs NHAI, Public Works Department, Transport and Traffic Department to prevent accidents.
Chief Minister took cognizance of the accident
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has also taken cognizance of the death of three students going to appear for exams in a road accident. The Chief Minister has expressed condolences to the relatives of the deceased. Also, after getting information about the incident, the Chief Minister directed the officials to immediately reach the spot and expedite the relief work.
