Payment of solid waste user charge has been made mandatory for all buildings, hotels, hostels, banquet halls and all other types of commercial establishments under Ranchi Municipal Corporation area. At present the collection of waste user charge in all the wards of the Municipal Corporation is being done through the selected agency M/s Netwind Soft Labs Private Limited.
As per the orders of the Administrator, Ranchi Municipal Corporation has started the process of taking strict action against the big defaulters of Waste User Charge. In this sequence, a list of a total of 100 big defaulters has been prepared, to whom notices have been issued to pay solid waste user charges for the period from April 2022 to December 2025.
According to the notice issued by the Municipal Corporation, it will be mandatory for the concerned defaulters to pay their entire outstanding amount within seven days from the date of the notice. In case payment is not made within the prescribed time limit, punitive action will be taken under Section 187(2), 512, 600 and 608 of the Jharkhand Municipal Act, 2011.
Ranchi Municipal Corporation has appealed to all the citizens and business establishment operators of the area to ensure timely payment of waste user charges, so that the cleanliness system of the city can be strengthened and maintained.
Payment facility is available through both online and door-step modes. Online payment can be made through the Solid Waste User Charge link available on the official portal of the Municipal Corporation. Whereas for door-step payment, payment can be made through cash, cheque, DD or UPI by contacting the representative on phone.
List of many defaulters of waste user charge
Apart from this, a total of 100 establishments including hotels, hostels, malls, hospitals, banquet halls, restaurants, educational institutions, banks and commercial complexes have been listed, on which waste user charges ranging from Rs 45 thousand to Rs 9 lakh are outstanding. The Municipal Corporation has clarified that legal action will be taken without any relaxation against all the defaulters who do not make payment within the stipulated period.
