Ranchi News: Court Takes Cognizance Of 5 Year Old Case Of Human Trafficking, Orders Production Of 3 Accused

State Bureau, Ranchi. The special court of POCSO Act has taken cognizance of the supplementary charge sheet filed in a five-year-old case related to human trafficking and POCSO Act. The investigating officer of the case had filed a supplementary charge sheet on January 3 against Ranjit Mandal, Ajit Kerketta alias Mathu and Reena Kerketta.

Cognizance has already been taken against one accused Lakhindra Yadav in the case. The court has ordered Ranjita Mandal and Reena Kerketta, who are on bail, to appear on January 30. Due to the death of accused Afroz Khan, named in this case, further proceedings against him were ended.

The accused did not get bail in the Arms Act.

The court of Additional Justice AK Tiwari on Saturday rejected the bail plea of ​​Harendra Kumar Singh, accused in the Arms Act case. The court said that the evidence available in the case is not in favor of granting bail.

The applicant is in judicial custody on charges of possessing illegal weapons. During vehicle checking on the night of October 19, 2025, the police had recovered a country-made pistol and cartridges from the Innova car. The police arrested the accused and his driver and sent them to jail.

Accused acquitted in kidnapping case

The court of Additional Justice AK Tiwari on Saturday acquitted Sajjad Ansari, accused of kidnapping the girl, due to lack of evidence. During the hearing, the victim gave a statement in the court that she had married the accused willingly and had no complaints of any kind.

After this statement of the victim, the court acquitted the accused. An FIR was lodged by the girl's father at Khalari police station on 16 April 2024 regarding the incident.
