Jagran correspondent, Bhagalpur. The campaign has been going on in the urban area for the last 15 days but it is not clear from where and from where the encroachments have been removed. Shops are being removed from one side and it is being decorated from the other side. This is happening due to starting the campaign without any concrete action plan.

Therefore, it would not be wrong to say that the traffic and corporation administration are just doing eyewash in the name of the campaign. This has not reduced the problems of the city residents at all. Yes, at some places some shops will definitely be seen in ruins, but they will also return to their old form in a day or two.

It was told that in the name of removing encroachment, the team is only collecting fine from the vendors by removing the materials kept on the road. A fine of about Rs 60 thousand has been collected in a week.

Why was the campaign not successful?

No campaign was conducted through Sadar SDO and Circle to remove permanent encroachment. Those who are permanently encroaching on roads and drains have not been identified yet. Instead of parking, shops are being run in the basement of the building. It was neither investigated properly nor any action was taken.

To organize the traffic, vending zones, stoppages and stopping places of passenger vehicles have not been decided. Vehicles are still being parked illegally at intersections. Due to which the city is in the grip of jam. Even the Toto stop at Tilkamanjhi bus depot could not be managed by the administration.

Campaign launched near JLNMCH, fine of Rs 20 thousand collected

The Municipal Corporation team on Thursday conducted a campaign to remove encroachments in and around Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College. After this the team went to the Municipal Corporation office via SM College Road, Tilkamanjhi Chowk, Patel Babu Road, Tilkamanjhi Hatia Road, Sabzi Mandi, Station Chowk, Cycle Patti, Naya Bazar Chowk and Adampur Chowk. During this time, the footpath vendors were clearly instructed to immediately remove the encroachment from the road.

If there is enough space left on the roadside, they can earn a living by setting up a small stall. Otherwise, fine will be charged for violating the rules and the goods will be confiscated. Today the team collected a fine of Rs 20,000.
