In the audit of the Accountant General's Office, Patna, it has been feared that during the Corona period and floods in the financial year 2020-2021, a huge amount of money was misappropriated from providing food to the needy and housing them. Till now the expenditure of about four crores has been raised under objection. In view of this, the Audit Directorate has asked the District Magistrate and Circle Officer to get it investigated. In case of irregularities, action has also been requested against the guilty officers and employees.
According to the audit report, Rs 1.94 crore was spent on community kitchens during the floods in Musahari area. In this, a total expenditure of Rs 1 crore 94 lakh 83 thousand 507 was shown on various dates on food grains, gas cylinder supply, pandal-tent and food preparation workers etc. Many important information were missing in the records and bills provided.
Name of kitchen place related to supplier selection, registration of people coming for food, store distribution register etc. were not made available. Also the objection was not complied with. In view of this, the said amount was kept under objection.
No accounting of amount spent in quarantine center
The audit report showed an expenditure of Rs 1 crore 43 lakh 34 thousand 614 under various heads on the quarantine centers set up in the region during the Corona epidemic. This was also paid. Investigation revealed that right from the list of beneficiaries to the selection of suppliers and other records were not made available. In view of this, in view of the possibility of irregularities, the said expenditure amount was put under objection while conducting an investigation.
Audit team did not find receipt of payment to the dependents of those who died in disasters
An expenditure of Rs 88 lakh has been shown as compensation amount to the dependents of those killed in various disasters in the region. On the other hand, the bill, list of beneficiaries, payment recipient's receipt and signature on the receipt etc. were not made available during the audit. In view of the possibility of irregularities, the said amount has also been kept under objection. In this matter, Mushahari Circle Officer Mahendra Shukla said that the audit report has not been received yet. After receiving it, it will be investigated and a report will be prepared.
