Jagran correspondent, Rewari. The District Consumer Court in Rewari has imposed a fine of Rs 2,500 after flies were found in the biscuits of a renowned company. The fine amount will have to be paid with nine percent interest.
Actually, Raman Kumar, a resident of Rewari, had purchased Parle-company biscuits along with other essential items from a mall in the city on March 12, 2024. After taking the purchased biscuits home, when I opened them to eat with tea, I saw that there was a fly in one of the biscuits. On looking deeper, it was clear that while making the biscuits, a fly had come into the material itself which got set in the biscuits along with the die of the biscuit making machine.
After this, on March 14, 2024, a suit was filed in the District Consumer Court of the mall and biscuit company. All three parties presented their views in the court. Presenting its stand on behalf of the mall, it was said that sealed pack biscuits are supplied by the company. There is no fault of his in this.
The biscuit company, while presenting its stand, said that all its products are clean and neat. Fly stuck to the biscuit: There may be a fly stuck on the biscuit after opening it. All their products are approved by FSSAI.
While appearing on behalf of the complainant, advocate Kailash Chand said that in the biscuits presented, it is clearly visible that while making the biscuits, the biscuit has come with the die of the biscuit making machine, which cannot be pasted in this manner later. Because there is a clear difference between sticking with the dye and sticking later. He also said that if this is possible, then later on stick a fly on the prepared biscuits and show it. After the cross-examination of all the parties was completed, the District Consumer Court found the biscuit manufacturing company guilty.
