Conspiracy of 'robber bride' failed, gang along with family caught due to vigilance of villagers.
Jagran correspondent, Jhajjar. A sensational case has come to light in village Surha, where a conspiracy was hatched to rob a family under the guise of the sacred bond of marriage. However, with the promptness of the villagers and the help of CCTV technology, the robber bride and her associates, who committed the major crime, have been handed over to the police.
According to the information, village resident Harkesh had married a girl named Manu, a resident of Punjab, through a female middleman on January 22. It is also mentioned that in exchange for marriage, a transaction of about Rs 1.5 lakh was made with the middleman, which Harkesh had raised by taking a loan on interest.
The joy and celebration of the wedding had not even subsided in the house when on Tuesday night the new bride Manu mixed intoxicants in the dinner (vegetable) in a planned manner. After eating food, Harkesh, his mother, sister, brother-in-law and nephew etc. fell into deep sleep.
Help from CCTV and bravery of villagers
After midnight, when the family was unconscious, Manu called his alleged uncle Sukhdev and other associates. They were about to run away from the house with jewelery and cash worth Rs 70,000 when a young man living in the neighborhood caught sight of the CCTV footage of his house.
As soon as he saw suspicious activities, the young man immediately raised an alarm and along with other villagers started chasing him in his car. At a distance of about two kilometers, the villagers laid siege and caught the bride and her two companions.
His alleged uncle Sukhdev managed to escape with a bag full of cash and jewellery. However, the villagers immediately handed over the arrested accused to the local police. Here, police post Dulina in-charge Sandeep said that while taking action in the case, three accused have been arrested. The police are investigating the matter thoroughly.
