Rs 10,000 Each Did Not Reach The Accounts Of More Than 11 Lakh Women, Nitish Government Will Now Run A Special Campaign

The amount has not reached the accounts of more than 11 lakh women.

Raman Shukla, Patna. Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojna: Nitish government has almost achieved the target related to the announcement of giving Rs 10 thousand to Jeevika Didis.

Still, the amount has not reached the accounts of more than 11 lakh Jeevika Didis due to KYC. In this, the maximum number of more than one lakh is of Jeevika Didis of East Champaran district.

After this, 76758 payments in Madhubani, Muzaffarpur, 53 thousand Darbhanga and 51 thousand Katihar districts are pending due to KYC.

The hope of relief for more than 11 lakh didis associated with Nitish government's ambitious rural livelihood scheme Jeevika is currently hanging in the balance.

Rural Development Department officials say that this situation has arisen due to technical and documentary hurdles in KYC.

According to the provisions decided at the government level, the assistance amount is to be transferred directly through bank accounts to the women associated with livelihood groups.

But the payment process came to a halt due to incomplete, inconsistent or not updated KYC of a large number of accounts. According to officials, many accounts do not have Aadhaar link, somewhere there is an error in name/address/date of birth, and somewhere the mobile number is not updated.

In some cases, payments have also got stuck due to old accounts becoming dormant. This problem is more serious in rural areas.

Jeevika Didis say that they submitted the necessary documents in the group meetings, yet KYC is not being updated due to technical reasons at the bank level.

Despite visiting bank branches several times, the problem still persists. Due to this, the household needs, small businesses, animal husbandry and self-employment plans of the sisters are being affected.

The government has instructed all the districts to update KYC by running a special campaign. For this, Bank Mitras, CSP centers and Jeevika cadre have been activated.

The work of Aadhaar seeding, mobile update and account verification has also started by setting up camps in some districts, but the progress is slower than expected. Experts believe that if this amount had been released on time, cash flow in the rural economy would have increased.

This amount of Rs 10,000 can become the basis for many families to start seed, fertilizer, fodder, small equipment or grocery business. The delay is also affecting the confidence of women.

Departmental officials say that payment will be released automatically as soon as KYC is completed. Besides, consideration is also being given to simplifying the standard procedure for rectifying the errors in the accounts. A major part of the pending cases will be settled in the next few weeks.
