Workers breaking the wall of Maharaja Surajmal Memorial. Awakening

Jagran correspondent, Sonipat. Politics has heated up regarding Maharaja Surajmal Chowk and memorial located in Sector-23. On Sunday, RWA itself started the work of demolishing the wall of the memorial due to fear of the administration.

Congress Deputy Mayor of Municipal Corporation Manjeet Gehlawat, who has remained silent till now in this matter, has accused the police, administration and HSVP officials of indulging in politics of pressure. At the same time, people of the society are condemning this action.

Gave proposal last year

Last year, in the Municipal Corporation meeting, a proposal was passed to name the square of Sector-23 as Maharaja Surajmal Chowk and build his memorial there. On this, under the leadership of the Deputy Mayor, donations were collected and the Chowk and the statue of Maharaja Surajmal were constructed.

The Chowk was to be inaugurated and the statue unveiled on 25th December, the martyrdom day of Maharaja Surajmal. Rohtak's Congress MP Deependra Hooda was invited to this. He also agreed to come, on this the messages about his Sonipat visit and unveiling were circulated in WhatsApp groups.

HSVP officials and police reached the spot overnight and stopped the construction of the memorial, calling it illegal. It was told that this monument has been built in the green belt of the department, which is illegal.

The matter was placed before CM Saini

After this, several meetings were held, in which RWAs said that they are with the government and the district administration, the government can get anyone inaugurated. In the development rally of Kharkhoda, the entire matter was put before CM Naib Singh Saini, he also assured to resolve the dispute and assured to get it inaugurated.

Now the district administration, fearing registering a case against the RWA members and sending them to jail, asked them to demolish the illegal construction themselves. On this, RWA started demolishing the walls of the memorial on Sunday.

Police, administration and HSVP officials are doing pressure politics. A particular community is being targeted, which is completely condemnable. Great men belong to everyone. A complaint has also been lodged against me in the police station, so that I cannot say anything in this matter. The entire matter has been spoiled by inviting Congress MP Deepender Hooda to the function. Is there any violation of rules in building any square or monument in the entire city, but politics is being done in this matter.
