MI Cape Town registered its first win of the season
Digital Desk, New Delhi.
MI Cape Town achieved their much-awaited first win of the competition by achieving the revised target of 128 runs with four balls to spare.
The Newlands crowd had been waiting for an explosive performance from Nicholas Pooran for a long time and the West Indies batsman enthralled everyone with his high-class power-hitting. Despite continuous rain, Puran gave full reward to the spectators who stood firm by hitting five sixes in his stormy innings of 33 runs.

Each six was bigger than the last, but Pooran's huge six, hit in the top row of the members' stand off Richard Gleeson, will remain in the memories of the spectators for a long time.
However, Pooran was out after being caught at the deep cover boundary, after which Rassie van der Dussen (35 runs on 24 balls, 3 sixes) took over the innings. Jason Smith then took MI Cape Town to the brink of victory with a boundary-laden inning of 22 runs off just six balls, before Karim Janat finished the match with four balls to spare.
Earlier, the start of Super Kings' innings was delayed by an hour after MI Cape Town won the toss and were put into bat due to intermittent rain.
JSK captain Faf du Plessis and his new opening partner James Vince got off to a fast start and added 32 runs in just 2.4 overs. However, Vince (15 runs on 9 balls, 2 fours, 1 six) was caught at cover by George Linde.
Du Plessis looked in an aggressive mood and hit four consecutive fours off MI Cape Town's main bowler Kagiso Rabada in the second over. Even after Vince was out, he took JSK's innings forward.
There were four contenders for the Player of the Match award – Corbin Bosch, Faf du Plessis, Rashid Khan and Nicholas Pooran – with ‘Nikki P’ Pooran winning the award with 59.7 percent of the fan vote.
After hitting Linde for a six over long-on, Du Plessis targeted New Zealand's Trent Boult in the final over of the powerplay. He hit four fours and a six to take JSK to 69/2, when rain came again and the players had to leave the field.
For the second time the game stopped for 75 minutes, after which the match was reduced to 12-12 overs for both the teams. After the rain, JSK's rhythm was completely broken and as soon as the play started again, Du Plessis (44 runs on 21 balls, 7 fours, 2 sixes) was out.
MI Cape Town made a comeback with brilliant bowling from Corbin Bosch (3/24) and Rashid Khan (2/32). The efforts of Mathieu de Villiers (21 runs off 15 balls, 3 fours) helped JSK reach 123/7, but this score proved to be insufficient to win that night.
