Shameful: 3 Doctors Each In Bareilly, MLA, Yet There Is No 'heart' Doctor In The Government Hospital For 12 Years!

Anup Gupta, Jagran, Bareilly. The government health services may be overwhelmed by the disease but it is not affecting the health of the public representatives. Whereas the ruling party MLAs of Sadar, Bithri Chainpur and Nawabganj in the district are doctors themselves and also have their own private hospitals. In such a situation, they are serious about their hospitals, but they are not feeling the pain of government hospitals.

In such a situation, whether it is the matter of posting of doctors on various important posts including cardiologist, nephrologist etc. in the divisional level district hospital or the issue of non-appointment of permanent staff including doctors in the 300 bed hospital built at a cost of Rs. 69 crores, strong lobbying of the MLAs has not been seen in the government on any of these, due to which thousands of patients are not getting proper and timely treatment.

The condition of health services has been poor for a long time. Despite being a divisional level district hospital, heart patients are not being treated here for almost eight years. The reason is that after the posting of cardiologist Dr. Vedprakash Bhardwaj in the year 2012, no other doctor was appointed here. Same is the situation with kidney disease specialist (nephologist). This post is lying vacant since 2013.

17 posts of all doctors including plastic surgeon, dermatologist are also vacant for a long time. Apart from this, in the year 2022, the condition of three hundred beds built at a cost of Rs 69 crore on an area of more than 16 thousand square meters is even worse. Not a single permanent staff including doctor has been deployed here till now. Obviously the health services of the district themselves are on ventilators.

This is when three MLAs of the ruling party here are doctors themselves. In this, Sadar MLA Dr. Arun Kumar is also the Minister of State for Forest and Environment (Independent Charge). He has a private hospital in Gandhinagar near Dharamkanta intersection. Similarly, the private hospital of BJP MLA from Bithri Chainpur, Dr. Raghavendra Sharma, is being run in Kargaina on Badaun Road.

Similarly, BJP MLA from Nawabganj, Dr. MP Arya is also a doctor by profession and he also has a big hospital in Nawabganj. It is said that many of these MLAs or their family members also have partnerships in some super specialty hospitals. This is a big reason that these MLAs are more focused on running their private hospitals than improving government health services and they are not serious about improving the condition of government hospitals.

This is the reason that due to weak advocacy in the government, instead of improving, the situation in government hospitals may be getting worse day by day, but neither the cries of pain of the patients suffering from serious diseases are reaching the ears of the public representatives nor are the tears of the crying government hospitals visible.

Six thousand people are undergoing dialysis every year without a kidney specialist.

The Health Department has not deployed kidney disease specialists for years. Despite this, about six thousand patients are undergoing dialysis every year in the dialysis center built in the district hospital. Due to lack of specialists, patients have to get OPD done in private hospitals. Not only this, dialysis also has to be done there once. After this, dialysis is being done here again after seeing his prescription.

In such a situation, despite spending crores of rupees in building this ward, kidney patients are getting only incomplete treatment. In view of the number of patients suffering from serious kidney diseases, the Health Department started a dialysis center in the district hospital in the year 2019, but a kidney specialist (nephrologist) has not been deployed.

Dialysis was done at a very expensive cost in the nine-bed ward, so there was a lot of pressure on the health officials to conduct it. A solution was found that the patient should get OPD done in a private hospital and dialysis would be provided here on the basis of the same prescription. The problem with this was that there was no skilled staff to make a path in the body to insert the wire for dialysis.

Therefore, the patient has to undergo private dialysis once. Here the staff told that dialysis is done three times by making a path in the legs but later a wire has to be inserted through the neck. There is no skilled person for that either. Obviously, patients are getting only half the dialysis facilities here.

It is necessary to have specialist doctors to treat patients in the district hospital. Earlier we had written to the government regarding the posting of cardiologist and neurophysician there. The government will once again be lobbied regarding this.

- Dr. Arun Kumar, Forest and Environment Minister

People should have better health facilities available. At present I have come to Lucknow only. This issue will be discussed with the Health Minister on Wednesday. Every possible effort will be made to deploy specialist doctors in the district hospital.

- Dr. MP Arya, MLA Nawabganj

Specialist doctors are available in tertiary care hospitals. Just posting specialist doctors in the district hospital will do nothing. The facilities of lab, equipment etc. will also have to be increased. The government is preparing to start all the facilities in the three hundred bed hospital in PPP mode.
