On Sunday night, the student union took out a 'Samta procession' on the campus demanding resignation and accountability from the vice-chancellor, while the strike of the expelled officials is also continuing. Student leaders allege that the Vice-Chancellor made objectionable remarks on a particular section of the society, terming the UGC's equity regulation as unnecessary, which has hurt the inclusive tradition of the university.

Students' union general secretary Sunil Yadav said the alleged statement made in a podcast that "progress is not possible by permanently remaining a victim or claiming to be a victim," was considered insensitive and discriminatory by the student community. According to them, this comment is contrary to the principles of social justice and equal opportunity, hence the students are demanding answers through peaceful protest. Thousands of students took part in the march and raised slogans like Vice Chancellor should apologize and resign.

Administrative sources say that no such official statement has been issued by the Vice Chancellor and the facts are being presented in the wrong context.
