Jharkhand won the SMAT title under the captaincy of Ishan Kishan.

Sports Desk, New Delhi. Jharkhand won its first SMAT title by defeating Haryana in the final of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025. This is only their second domestic title after winning the Vijay Hazare Trophy in 2010–11. Jharkhand performed amazingly under the captaincy of Ishan Kishan.

After losing the toss, Jharkhand was invited to bat first. Batting first, the team scored 262 runs at the loss of 3 wickets in 20 overs. In response, the entire Haryana team was all out after scoring 193 runs in 18.3 overs. Jharkhand won the match by 69 runs.

Ishan Kishan's captaincy innings

Jharkhand, who came to bat first, had a very bad start. Virat Singh returned to the pavilion after scoring 2 runs. After this, the wonders of captain Ishan Kishan and Kumar Kushagra were seen. In this match, Ishan Kishan faced 49 balls and scored 101 runs with the help of 10 sixes and 6 fours. He became the first captain to score a century in the SMAT final.

Whereas, Kumar Kushagra played an inning of 81 runs in 38 balls with the help of 5 sixes and 8 fours. Apart from this, Anukul Roy played an unbeaten inning of 40 runs and Robin Minz played an unbeaten inning of 31 runs. Three bowlers from Haryana got one wicket each.

The bowlers did wonders

Haryana, which set out to chase the target of 262 runs, faltered from the very beginning. Captain Ankit Kumar, who scored the second highest runs in the tournament, returned to the pavilion without opening his account. At the same time, Ashish Siwach, who came to bat after this, also faced only three balls and was out on a duck.

From here, Arsh Ranga and Yashvardhan Dalal together tried to control the innings, but Ranga was bowled by Sushant Mishra on a personal score of 17. When the first 6 overs of play ended, by that time the Haryana team had scored 58 runs, but it had lost 3 important wickets.

Yashvardhan and Sindhu fought

A partnership of 67 runs was seen between Nishant Sindhu and Yashvardhan Dalal for the fourth wicket. Due to this, Haryana's score definitely crossed 100. Dalal also returned to the pavilion after scoring 58 runs while Sindhu returned after scoring 31 runs. After this, it did not take much time for the Haryana team's innings to collapse. For Jharkhand, Sushant Mishra and Bal Krishna took 3-3 wickets while Vikash Singh and Anukul Roy took 2-2 wickets.
