Jagran correspondent, Badaun. Smuggler Mohammad Ahmed, who was transporting cattle from here in collaboration with smugglers from Rajasthan, was caught during a police encounter in Ujhani Kotwali area on Saturday night. He has been shot in the leg.
He had come to see his container when he had an encounter with the police. The police have also seized his car and recovered a pistol from it. The police sent him to jail after giving first aid.
On December 2, a container was found standing in the Kachla forest of Ujhani Kotwali area. The police had come to know that the container was brought to transport the cattle but before that the animal lovers got the information and on their information the Kotwali police also reached the spot.
Then the smugglers fled from the spot but the animal lovers chased the smugglers and reached Sahaswan Kotwali area. There they had caught many smugglers from Rajasthan and more than 60 cattle of cattle were recovered from them. The police arrested everyone and sent them to jail the next day.
During interrogation, he had told that Mohammad Ahmed, a resident of Sirsi village of Hazratnagar Garhi police station area of Sambhal district, used to bring his container and carry the cattle with it. On December 2 also he had come to collect the animals but after seeing the police he fled from the spot. He had come to see his container in the forest along Muzaria Road in Ujhani Kotwali area on Saturday night. There was no number plate on his car.
Due to this the police found the matter suspicious and started cordoning it off. The police asked him to stop but he started firing, in response to which the police also fired. In this he got injured by a bullet in his leg. Then the police caught him. A pistol and cartridges were recovered from him.
He told during interrogation that he was smuggling cattle in collaboration with smugglers from Rajasthan. He used his container to transport animals.
Police have seized his car and an FIR has been registered against him under encounter. He was treated at the district hospital at night. He was produced in the court on Sunday afternoon, from where he was sent to jail. There are three cases registered against him.
