Digital Desk, Mumbai. Shiv Sena (UBT) may have stayed away from power in the Mumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections, but through its elected experienced councilors, it is making full preparations to maintain its dominance in the BMC House. These experienced councilors of Uddhav Thackeray can play the role of a strong opposition with their experience in BMC. Out of the 29 councilors elected from the Shiv Sena (Shinde faction), which broke away from the original Shiv Sena, 20 are new, while four former mayors have been elected from the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT). Therefore, the coming months will see interesting and dramatic developments in the 227-member BMC.

4 former mayors elected councilors

There are four former mayors who won the election from Shiv Sena (UBT) – Kishori Pednekar, Vishakha Raut, Shraddha Jadhav and Milind Vaidya. Similarly, former Deputy Mayor Hemangi Varlikar and Suhas Wadkar have also been elected from Shiv Sena (UBT). Both of them have been Deputy Mayors. Similarly, Pooja Mahadeshwar, wife of Vishwanath Mahadeshwar, who was the mayor from Shiv Sena (UBT), has also been elected this time. Kishori Pednekar, who was the mayor during the Covid-19 pandemic, has been a nurse by profession. She was seen roaming the streets and alleys of Mumbai at the peak of the pandemic and inspecting BMC hospitals and even wore a nurse's uniform at times.

Let us tell you that Shiv Sena had chosen Dr. Manohar Joshi, one of the mayors who played an important role in the politics of Maharashtra, who later became the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Union Minister and Speaker of the Lok Sabha. Chhagan Bhujbal, who is now a minister in the Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party, had been the Deputy Chief Minister in the Congress-led UPA government.
