Reiterating his commitment towards the promotion of sports and players, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has said that along with taking forward the process of building a sports ground in every gram panchayat, mini stadium at the block level and big stadium at the district level, the government will build a sports college at every divisional headquarters.
CM Yogi was addressing the prize distribution ceremony of MLA Sports Competition - 2025 under Gorakhpur City Assembly constituency on Monday. In the program organized at Veer Bahadur Singh Sports College, the Chief Minister said that the government is continuously strengthening the sports infrastructure.
An international stadium is going to be built near Belipar in Gorakhpur. The Regional Stadium of Gorakhpur is also being renovated at a cost of Rs 63 crore. An excellent stadium is also being built in Veer Bahadur Singh Sports College.
The session of Sports University named after hockey magician Major Dhyanchand has started in Meerut. World class construction of this university is going on. Now the government is preparing to build sports colleges at every divisional headquarters.
The Chief Minister said that he is going to hold a meeting with all the institutions of Gorakhpur metropolis soon. In that meeting, institutions will be invited to adopt one sport each. They will provide some cooperation and the government will do some. Good coaches will be kept here. This will provide children with a better platform for sports.
Next time there will be competitions for working and retired people also
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also shared his upcoming plans regarding the MLA sports competition. He said that next time sports competitions will be organized not only for children and students but also for working and retired people at ward level.
The winners will be honored by organizing a big competition and function at the ward level, then at the suburban level by combining some wards and then at the city level. He told that competitions for children and students will be held at three levels in boys and girls category, basic, secondary and higher education.
The Chief Minister said that a similar cultural program has also been asked for in Gorakhpur. This competition of different art forms like singing, playing, dancing, drama etc. will be held in the first week of January. The winning participants will be honored in the main event of Gorakhpur Mahotsav from 11 to 13 January.
If youth plays then the country will blossom
Explaining the importance of sports, CM Yogi said that if the youth plays, the country will blossom. The path to realizing the vision of developed India will start from here. The Chief Minister said that the path to success in life is possible only through a healthy body. A healthy body can be achieved only through sports and yogic activities.
Huge changes took place in the field of sports in 11 years
The Chief Minister said that in the last 11 years, there has been a huge change in sports and sports activities in the country. The whole world looks towards India for Kabaddi, Hockey, Badminton, Athletics. A new demand for competition in Olympics, Asiad, Commonwealth and World Championships has arisen and keeping this in mind, the government is continuously strengthening the sports infrastructure.
CM appreciated the enthusiasm of the players in the severe cold.
The Chief Minister openly praised the enthusiasm of the players even in the extreme cold. He said that 1000 players have directly and indirectly 10000 players participated in this MLA sports competition.
Athletics, Kabaddi, Volleyball, Judo and wrestling competitions were organized in the MLA Sports Competition 2025. He said that it is sports which provides entertainment in even and odd situations and also plays a big role in making us physically, mentally and intellectually fit.
Players are getting opportunities without discrimination under the leadership of CM: Sanjay Nishad
On this occasion, Dr. Sanjay Nishad, Minister of Fisheries Department of the State Government, said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, like every other field, all the players are getting the opportunity to move forward without any discrimination in the field of sports.
By eliminating the mafia from UP, he has created an atmosphere of sports in the real sense instead of a game of guns and knives. Dr. Sanjay Nishad said that the Yogi government is working with commitment for the upgradation of sports and promotion of players.

During the closing ceremony of the MLA sports competition, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath watched the final match of wrestling (74 kg weight category) and Kabaddi competition. While closely observing the moves and movements of the players, he clapped and encouraged them.
During the prize distribution, the Chief Minister awarded medals, trophies and gifts to senior wrestling competition winner Shubham Yadav, runner-up Anurag Yadav and senior Kabaddi competition winning team Regional Sports Stadium and runner-up team Neena Thapa.
