Digital Desk, New Delhi. There has been increased activity in Tamil Nadu politics before the 2026 assembly elections. PMK leader Dr. Anbumani Ramadoss's team member K. Balu surprised everyone by reaching the office of actor Vijay's party TVK. This meeting has intensified the discussion about a possible alliance between the two parties.

Balu told that the purpose of his meeting was to invite TVK to the PMK demonstration to be held in Chennai on 17th December. This demonstration will be held to demand a caste based survey in the state. On the question of alliance, Baalu said, "It is just about the demonstration. Who knows what will happen next?"

DMK's answer to PMK-TVK's questions

He met TVK general secretary Basi Anand and chief coordinator of the party's administrative committee K.A. Met Sengottaiyan. Let us tell you, both PMK and TVK parties are demanding caste based census in the state. The DMK government says that only the Central Government can legally conduct such a survey.

TVK leader Adharva Arjuna said, "DMK's talk is just lip service. PMK has given us a letter on a good issue. We will convey it to our leader and take a decision." TVK has already said that if the alliance led by it wins, it will share power with its allies.

How will TVK and PMK benefit from each other?

PMK's strong hold in northern Tamil Nadu could be helpful for TVK. At the same time, PMK, which could not succeed in getting power alone for many years, can now see hope for power sharing with TVK.

The PMK represents the Vanniyar community, often switching support between the DMK and AIADMK. In 2006, the party had its best performance by winning 18 seats. But later the party became weak due to many wrong political decisions.

PMK won 5 seats after 10 years after 2011 and with AIADMK in 2021 and 2024. At present, differences are going on in the party between its founder Dr. Ramadoss and his son Dr. Anbumani Ramadoss. It is not clear whether the party will break before the elections or not.

TVK placed this condition

Hours after Baalu's meeting, TVK district secretaries formed two committees, which included talks with potential partners on seat sharing and preparing the election manifesto. At the same time, the party also gave Vijay the right to decide with which party to form an alliance, the condition being that he accepts Vijay's leadership.
