Issued circular to all hostels warning them to take action.

Jagran correspondent, New Delhi. The administration has taken a tough stance on incidents of damage to public property in Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU).

The university administration has issued a circular making it clear that strict action will be taken against students who indulge in violence or damage public property in and around the hostels. In the circular, all hostel residents have been advised to strictly follow the rules set by the university and the government.

According to the JNU administration, several incidents of vandalism and disorder in hostel premises have been reported in recent months. Students have been warned to stay away from any activity that may cause damage to public property.

Violation of rules will take action under the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act 1984 and the Delhi Prevention of Defacement of Property Act 2007.

It is noteworthy that in November last year, Dr. A case of vandalism came to light in BR Ambedkar Central Library, where students had uprooted the face recognition system. The loss in this incident was estimated to be around Rs 20 lakh. Here, JNU Students Union has also expressed concern about road safety in the campus.

The student union wrote a letter to the Chief Security Officer informing that recently once again an accident took place near KC Market, in which a student was seriously injured. It has been said in the letter that three years ago a student had lost his life due to speeding vehicles.

The students' union has demanded construction of speed breakers between North Gate and Sabarmati T-point, installation of clear signboards and fixing the speed limit of vehicles in the residential area at 30 kmph to ensure the safety of students and residents.
