New rule will be implemented
According to the information, new rules will be implemented on the sale of two-wheelers across the country from January 1, 2026. After which their security can increase significantly. It was already informed by the government that a new rule for the safety of two wheelers will be implemented from January 1, 2026.
According to the new rule, safety features like ABS will be made mandatory for all types of two-wheelers across the country. The government has given a lot of time to implement this rule. This information was given by the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways only in the middle of 2025.
The rule will apply to all vehicles
After this rule comes into effect from January 2026, all two-wheeler manufacturers in the country will have to follow this rule. Which mainly includes vehicle manufacturers like Hero Motocorp, Honda, TVS, Bajaj and Suzuki. All of them will also have to make technical changes in their existing products, especially those with capacity less than 125cc. Till now this rule was applicable only to motorcycles with capacity of 150cc and above, but from January 2026 it will be implemented on every motorcycle and scooter.
Two helmets will also be required
Along with the rule of ABS in all two wheelers, two helmets will also be made mandatory with the sale of two wheelers from January 1, 2026. After which, on purchasing a new motorcycle or scooter from the showroom, the sale of two helmets will also be made mandatory.
