'Students Lost In Space' Talking To Astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla, VR Theater Started In National Science Center

Jagran correspondent, New Delhi. "As soon as I put on the headphones and goggles, the noise of the National Science Center suddenly disappeared. We felt as if we were sitting in the cockpit of a spacecraft and my chair was slowly floating with the waves of space. The experience of revolving around the Earth is an experience students can never forget." This enthusiasm was expressed by the girl students from various schools of NCR including Delhi. Astronaut and Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla inaugurated the state-of-the-art Virtual Reality (VR) theater on Saturday at the National Science Center located at Bhairon Marg.

During this, Indian astronaut and Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, pilot of Axiom-4 mission, interacted with about 400 students from 22 schools and while sharing his mission experiences, told the students that life and work in space is very challenging and exciting. The role of youth is most important in the search or mission of such a future. Making a career in the field of space science and technology is a part of nation building.

During the dialogue, students also asked questions to Shubhanshu Shukla regarding sleeping, eating and the effects of zero gravity (microgravity) in space. At the same time, parents also took guidance from experts to develop scientific thinking in children. ISRO Group Director Anurag Kumar Sinha said that in future missions, humanoids (robots) will be sent to space, which will not be replacement of astronauts but will be their complement.

On this occasion, Kailash Chandra, Nodal Officer of the National Science Center said that high-end VR headsets and motion-enabled seats have been used in this new theater, which gives the audience a lively feeling of being inside the International Space Station. There are a total of 19 VR stations where viewers can watch a 5-minute film in Hindi or English language.

The nodal officer said that From Earth to Orbit, Exploring Space Together exhibition was also organized. This 30-panel exhibition showcases India's ancient astronomy tradition and ISRO's modern achievements.
