Jagran correspondent, New Delhi. Delhi Traffic Police on Friday launched a special zero tolerance campaign to ensure safe and smooth traffic and against violation of traffic rules. The campaign was conducted under the supervision of Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha and the leadership of Special Commissioner of Traffic Police Neeraj Thakur. A total of 2,175 challans were issued for violation of traffic rules during the campaign.
This special campaign was launched simultaneously at six major traffic spots in the capital with the aim of curbing traffic violations and improving traffic discipline. This campaign was conducted at Anand Vihar ISBT, J.B. It was conducted at Tito Marg, Azadpur Mandi Chowk, Teen Murti Roundabout, Dwarka Mod, Najafgarh Road and Bikaner Chowk, Karol Bagh.
Particularly strict action was taken against improper parking, stop line violations, wrong-way driving, no-entry violations and permit related offenses as these are major risk factors for traffic jams and road safety.
Apart from this, 23 vehicles were seized due to serious violations. Delhi Traffic Police reiterates its zero tolerance policy towards violation of traffic rules and appeals to all road users to follow the rules in public interest and road safety. This campaign will continue for the next seven days.
