Now after 27 years, he has ended his journey and taken retirement from 27th December 2025. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has also confirmed his retirement.

How much pension will you get after retirement?
Sunita Williams has retired from NASA, hence the question arises that how much pension and benefits will be provided for her further maintenance. There are no official figures regarding this but according to media reports, she will be eligible for pension under the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS). Pension will be calculated on the basis of their highest salary. As per estimates, considering his GS-15 pay scale and annual salary of around Rs 1.20-1.30 crore, he is expected to get 1 per cent of his salary. In such a situation, he can get a federal pension of approximately $ 43,200 per year (approximately Rs 36 lakh).
Apart from this pension amount, Sunita Williams will get the benefit of monthly payment under the American Social Security Scheme, American Social Security System. Apart from all this they are covered with health insurance, life insurance and their savings plan (TSP). Along with this, they will also be provided with lifelong federal health insurance, life insurance and post-mission medical and psychological support in the form of ongoing support.
