The bail application of former IPS Amitabh Thakur will be heard on 7th.
Jagran correspondent, Varanasi. The hearing on the bail application of former IPS Amitabh Thakur in the case registered at Chowk police station was postponed on Monday. Due to non-availability of documents related to the case during the hearing, the court of District Judge Sanjeev Shukla fixed January 7 for hearing on the bail application.
Ambrish Singh Bhola, an officer of Hindu Yuva Vahini and honorary member of VDA, had filed a case against Amitabh Thakur at Chowk police station on December 9, 2025.
The allegation was that on November 30, Amitabh Thakur had broadcast a video on his internet media account. In this, misleading and false facts were propagated by accusing him of his involvement in the famous cough syrup case without any evidence and making wild allegations against him. This caused a serious blow to his social reputation.
In this case, the police registered a case against Amitabh Thakur, his wife Dr. Nutan Thakur and one other. After the court issued warrant 'B' in this case, the police brought him from Deoria jail on 19 December 2025 and presented him in the court of Special Chief Judicial Magistrate in-charge Rajiv Mukul Pandey. After judicial remand was made, the police took him back and went to Deoria.
Later, after hearing the arguments of the prosecution and defense on the bail application and perusing the files, the court of Special Chief Judicial Magistrate Krishna Kumar had rejected the bail application of Amitabh Thakur on December 22. A bail application has been filed on behalf of Amitabh Thakur in the District Judge's court on 23 December.
