State Bureau, Patna. Bihar has achieved great success through the agriculture road map. Many GI tagged agricultural products including Magahi Paan, Mithila Makhana, Marcha Paddy of Bihar have created their unique identity at the international level. In this sequence, efforts are being made to get GI tag for agricultural products like Digha Malda, Sonachur rice. Agriculture Minister Ram Kripal Yadav said these things.

The Minister was addressing the state level workshop organized at Bamati Auditorium on Thursday on behalf of the Agriculture Department to make the state's farming progressive and profitable. Agricultural economists, agricultural scientists and policy makers were present in the workshop organized on the topic of progressive and profitable agricultural practices in Bihar.

He said that the production of fruits and vegetables has increased rapidly through the agricultural road map. Instead of paddy and wheat, production and export of pulses and cash crop crops is being promoted. To make farming profitable, crop rotation and district wise farming is being encouraged.

In the workshop, Professor Padmashree Dr. Ashok Gulati of the Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER), New Delhi said that in the last 20 years, the GDP growth of Bihar has been more than that of India. The geographical conditions of Bihar are suitable for agriculture. These are its heritage. Its correct use is important. Farming here can be made more profitable through fish farming, poultry, pulses production, sugarcane industry etc.

He said that if farmers are made to do farming keeping the market in mind, they will get benefits from it. Cultivation of sugarcane in North Bihar and pulse crops in South Bihar should be promoted. Farmers can earn more profits by doing fish farming with Makhana.

On this occasion, Vice Chancellor of Dr. Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University, Dr. PS Pandey said that the climate and soil of Bihar is very favorable for agriculture. Agriculture has to be made profitable, only then the income of our farmers will increase.

At the same time, Principal Secretary of Agriculture Department, Narmadeshwar Lal said that farmers should move beyond traditional farming and adopt modern agricultural methods. Increase in both production and income is possible through new technologies, improved seeds and scientific management.
