The leopard had settled in Prayagraj for six months, it had come here after escaping from the forest of Madhya Pradesh.

Jagran correspondent, Prayagraj. The leopard that had escaped from the forest of Madhya Pradesh had really liked the allure of Patit Pavani in Tirtharaj Prayag. There was a reason for this also. Here there was neither any shortage of food nor any kind of restrictions for him. There is no fear of competitors in the natural habitat of the forests. He got so trapped in the attraction of these facilities that he could not get out. Terror continued to spread in the villages around Cachar for six months.

Madhya Pradesh is adjacent to Prayagraj, where leopards are found on a large scale in the forests. Panna Tiger Reserve and Ranipur Tiger Reserve of Chitrakoot are protected areas for tigers, but leopards are also growing in their natural habitat. They decide their territory in the forests. For this they have to fight with other leopards. Apart from this, they also have conflicts with tigers over territory.

In such situations, leopards often leave their original area and come out. Sometimes they run away in fear and sometimes they go out to find their new home. The leopard caught from Chhibiya had also left its forest due to similar reasons. Although the distance of Chitrakoot from Prayagraj is quite high, whereas from Shankargarh side the border of Madhya Pradesh is close. Its distance is only 60 to 65 kilometers. There are dense forests here too, in which leopards roam.

The leopard came to Prayagraj from these forests of Madhya Pradesh. Stayed here for about six months from August to January. A large number of other creatures, from Nilgai to deer, live in the marshes. Therefore he had no problem of hunting. There was no human interference in the alluvium spread over many kilometers. Due to this, the leopard had camped here, but now the forest department has again sent it to its natural habitat.

The leopard keeps changing its place even within a fixed radius. Every day he travels 30 to 35 kilometers. This is the reason why he was sometimes seen in this village and sometimes in that village. Due to not being able to stay at one place, I was not able to get hold of the department.

In this regard, DFO Arvind Yadav says that the border of Madhya Pradesh starts near Shankargarh, where there are forests. It is estimated that the leopard had strayed from here. At present, he has been released into the forest again.
