Lifestyle Desk, New Delhi. You may have often heard from some people that if alcohol is consumed in limited quantity, it is not harmful, but a medical case shared by a doctor from Vadodara has proved this notion completely wrong. Preventive and diagnostic radiologist Dr. Harsh Vyas, while sharing the ultrasound of a 28-year-old young man, has warned that occasional drinking can also be fatal.
Liver failure at the age of just 28
Dr. Vyas shared the ultrasound image of the liver of a 28 year old patient on his Instagram platform. He told that this patient described himself as an occasional drinker.
While sharing the image, the doctor said, "People from medical background will immediately understand after seeing this picture that it is Cirrhosis." He told that this is a condition which cannot be reversed and it is considered to be the pre-cancer stage.

The patient had unbearable pain due to filling of stomach with water.
The doctor revealed that the patient's condition had already become quite serious. It was clearly visible in the ultrasound that excessive liquid had accumulated in the patient's stomach, which is called ascites in medical language. For this reason the patient was experiencing a lot of pain.
Dr. Vyas said, "The patient's mother asked me, 'Doctor, my son will be fine, right?' But both the patient and I understood that the situation had gotten out of hand and the disease had progressed too far.”
Liver transplant is the only solution
According to Dr. Vyas, treatment options in such cases remain very limited. Expressing his helplessness, he said, "What answer should I give to his mother? This is a disease that cannot be cured and in such cases the only option left is liver transplant."
He appealed to the people to change their attitude towards alcohol and said that we should spread awareness about it.
Alcohol is a slow poison
Dr. Vyas gave a very important warning. He said that if you drink alcohol regularly and have not had any problems yet, it does not mean that you are safe.
He concluded by saying, "It just means that the poison has not shown its effect yet. Remember, you cannot experiment with poison."
