Farmer Raj Bahadur Maurya showing roses in the field: Jagran
Amit Pandey, Jagran, Amethi: Dozens of farmers of Dhudehri village of Jagdishpur in Kamrauli have changed the financial condition of their families by cultivating roses. The roses from their fields are spreading fragrance in many cities including the country's capital Delhi, state capital Lucknow, Varanasi, Rae Bareli, Sultanpur, Ayodhya and Jaunpur.
Seeing huge profits, the farmers here left traditional farming and adopted flower farming and have now become self-reliant. The rose flowers here are made into parcels as per the order and sent by bus or private vehicles to many cities.
Cultivating roses by learning from Ramraj
रामराज मौर्या ने बताया कि करीब 30 वर्ष से गुलाब की खेती कर रहे हैं। There is more profit in flower farming than traditional farming. He looks after the work of the market and his son Rajbahadur Maurya looks after the work of pesticides and irrigation and weeding. He told that about two to two and a half lakh rupees are saved annually by growing roses in one bigha. He said that taking inspiration from him, more than a dozen people from his and many other villages are also taking lessons and cultivating roses.
Benefits of taking farm on agreement
Ram Prasad Maurya, Ram Raj Maurya, Sundar Lal Pasi, Ram Bhawan, Sukhdin, Jitendra Kumar, Ramkaran, Ganga Prasad etc. told that they are cultivating roses by taking 25 thousand bigha land on agreement. Rose cultivation earns good profits which support the family's livelihood. It costs about one lakh to one and a half lakh rupees to plant one bigha of rose crop and ten to fifteen thousand rupees per month is spent on irrigation, pesticides and fertilizers. After taking out all the expenses, about two lakh rupees are saved annually in one bigha.
Higher prices are available in season
According to farmers, the price of rose flowers is higher on weddings, New Year and Valentine's Day. It is sold from one rupee to ten rupees a piece. It is sold for around Rs 150 to Rs 300 per kg. Rose cultivation: The profit from rose flower cultivation is many times higher than traditional farming. The financial condition of the farmers here has also strengthened due to flower cultivation. District Horticulture Officer Ranvijay Singh said that after online registration, farmers are selected on first come first serve basis and benefited through Kind DBT.
