Thieves were breaking the locks of the shop of Thapar General Store located in Shakti Nagar of the city when a girl coming out of the street saw her and raised an alarm. Chand, owner of Thapar General Store, said that he has been running the shop in Shakti Nagar for the last several years. He told that as usual, he had locked the shop at 10.30 pm on Friday night and gone home. After about 30 minutes, the girl coming out of the street saw that two youths had broken the locks of the shop and were trying to pull down the shutter of the shop, seeing which she raised an alarm.
Hearing the noise of the girl, both the youths ran away from the spot. The victim shopkeeper said that if the shutter of the shop had not been fitted with a center lock, thieves would have opened the shutter of the shop and stolen the goods from the shop. After the incident, a crowd of people gathered in the area, who informed the police of Station 4 and after receiving the information, the police of Station 4 reached the spot and started investigation.
People of the area have appealed to the police to increase patrolling in their area so that the fear of the police remains in the minds of thieves and crimes are curbed, whereas Anu Palyal, in-charge of police station 4, said that her team is busy investigating the matter and is taking appropriate action against the accused.
