State Bureau, Jammu. Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee President Tariq Hameed Kara along with National Secretary and Punjab MLA Pargat Singh reviewed the preparations for the campaign Lok Bhawan Chalo March to be organized on Saturday. In the meeting, party leaders discussed in detail the organizational preparations and participation of various units.
According to Congress, the march will start from near Maharaja Hari Singh Ji Park at 11.30 am on Saturday. It will be led by party in-charge and national general secretary Syed Naseer Hussain and state president Tariq Hameed.
The march will pass through the main markets of Jammu city and end at Lok Bhawan located at Panjtirthi. Senior leaders Ghulam Ahmed Mir, Raman Bhalla, MLAs, former ministers and other officials will participate in it.
This march is being taken out under the nationwide campaign of Congress, MNREGA Bachao Sangram and Hamari Riyasat Hamara Haq Andolan, demanding to save MNREGA and restoration of statehood. The party says that weakening MNREGA is a direct attack on the interests of the rural poor and the working class.
Tariq Hameed Kara said that granting statehood to Jammu and Kashmir is the constitutional right of the people, which was promised six and a half years ago. He called it a betrayal of 1.40 crore people by the BJP government at the Center and said that the agitation would be further intensified till the restoration of statehood.
Praising the workers, Pargat Singh said that MNREGA Bachao Sangram has been carried out in every corner of Jammu and Kashmir for the last one month and it will be continued as per the program of AICC.
Accusing the central government of not restoring statehood, he called on the people to continue the peaceful and strong struggle. In the meeting, former minister Mulram, District Jammu Urban President Yogesh Sahni, District Jammu Rural President Neeraj Kundan and other senior leaders also informed about the preparations for the march.
