Jagran correspondent, Jaunpur. The deadly Manja has been banned since 2009. Despite this, neither it could be stopped nor the series of deaths stopped. Amidst all the claims of the administration, it is sold in rural areas including cities.

The areas of the city including Tattala, Nawab Yusuf Road, Sipah, Shahi Qila, Line Bazaar, Purani Bazaar, Ruhatta, Olandganj, Chaharsu, Nakhas, Polytechnic Square etc. are the main centers for selling banned Manja.

When the police started taking action after the death of 40-year-old teacher Sandeep Tiwari, resident of Umarpur (Haribandhanpur) of the city on December 11, it started being sold secretly and on January 14, 23-year-old physiotherapist Sameer Hashmi, resident of Sheikhzada Mohalla of Kerakat, lost his life.
