Jagran correspondent, Hardoi. The police have busted an inter-district gang involved in cheating by giving lifts and arrested three people. It was these people who had committed the incident at DM intersection and Sandi. The arrested accused are residents of Kaushambi, Shahjahanpur and Farrukhabad. Police have recovered cash, mobile phone and the car used in the incident from them.
Baburam Sharma, resident of village Kunwarpur of Behtagokul police station area, told that on the evening of 16 February, he was waiting for the vehicle at the DM intersection. Then the passengers of a car told him to drive safely and made him sit. As soon as they came out of the city, the driver declared himself to be a government vehicle and said that checking is going on ahead, if you have money nearby then keep it in an envelope.
After trusting, Baburam kept 20 thousand rupees in the envelope. After dropping them in front of Pihani octroi, the accused fled away. Later on opening the envelope the money was found missing. Police registered a case and scanned the CCTV footage and with the help of SOG and SWAT surveillance team reached the accused and arrested Anup, resident of village Terkhas, Rajepur, Farrukhabad, Shriram alias Srinath, resident of village Bhakanda, Sarai Akil area of Kaushambi and Ramkripal, resident of Gadiyana Mohalla of Shahjahanpur.
Police have recovered Rs 23,000, three mobile phones and the car used in the incident from them. Kotwal Harinath Yadav said that the accused have been produced in the court and sent to jail.
