Thursday Special is a heart-warming story of a couple whose life revolves around their shared passion for food. Through which we peek into their world and see the nuances of their relationship.
Shoojit Sircar praised the simple style of the film. He said, 'Thursday Special made me really emotional with its simplicity and sweet story and compared it to his film 'Shoe Bite' which could not be released. In this he cast Amitabh Bachchan.
Sarkar further said, 'Varun's nuanced portrayal of friendship, aging and love is heart-touching and mature. It's a delicately crafted film about marriage and middle-aged relationships – especially impressive for a young filmmaker. It reminded me, in a way, of my unreleased film Shoe Bite'. The storytelling in Thursday Special is clean and honest, with every department supporting the story. Knowing that Varun has made more than 15 short films shows his passion and dedication and I felt that both he and the film deserve support.
