Jagran correspondent, Muzaffarpur. DM and SSP held a joint meeting regarding speedy execution of road safety and land dispute cases in the district. The District Magistrate said that many accident prone black spots have been identified on various roads.

He directed the Traffic DSP and District Transport Officer to jointly inspect these places and prepare a proposal for necessary action and send it to the concerned department. He said that as per requirement, speed breakers, dividers, signage with reflectors, high mast lights, foot over bridges etc. should be constructed so that accidents can be reduced.

Instructions were given to ensure strict adherence to safety standards, especially near schools located on roadsides and densely populated areas. Emphasis was laid on taking immediate action on the identified black spots.

Hit and run cases were also reviewed police station wise in the meeting. Instructions were given to run a comprehensive public awareness campaign regarding following traffic rules and to run an intensive vehicle checking campaign for effective implementation of the Motor Vehicles Act. Emphasis was laid on ensuring lawful action under relevant sections of the Act against those violating the rules.

The side effects of drugs were also discussed. The District Magistrate directed to run a campaign to make the general public, especially the youth, aware. While reviewing the operation of the de-addiction center located at Sadar Hospital, instructions were given to keep it functioning regularly and to provide all the facilities as per rules to the beneficiaries coming there.

Instructions for speedy disposal of land dispute cases

While reviewing the cases related to land disputes, the District Magistrate said that for timely disposal of such cases, the police station chief should go to his respective zonal office every Saturday and ensure joint hearing. Instructions were given to compulsorily enter the applications received on the Home Department portal and prepare monthly reports.

All police station heads were asked to make regular entries in cases related to land disputes and resolve them on priority basis. Besides, all officers were instructed to ensure hearing of complaints of common people through Janata Darbar by compulsorily being present in their respective offices on Monday and Friday.

At the end of the meeting, the District Magistrate and Senior Superintendent of Police directed all the officers to work with mutual coordination, discharge their responsibilities with sensitivity and accountability and ensure result based action in every area. He clarified that the priority of the administration is to maintain public safety, peace and law and order.
