Jaswant Thakur, Manali. Snow crazy tourists have turned to Manali. Due to snowfall, there was a 16 km long traffic jam from Patlikuhal to Manali on Saturday morning. On hearing the news of snowfall, tourists from the plains have turned to Himachal. Tourists coming to Manali on Friday are still stranded on the way. More than two feet of snow has fallen in Manali
Empty hotels on tourist roads
Roads were clogged with tourist vehicles, while hotels remained empty. However, the hotels in Manali have 55 to 60 percent occupancy. Due to heavy snowfall, tourists could neither go out of Manali nor come to Manali on Friday.

The most problems occurred in the climbing areas from Patlikuhal to Manali. Drivers faced more problems in Volvo Stand, Rangri, Tibetan School, Potato Ground and 17 miles from the police station. At these places the vehicles also collided with each other, due to which they also had to suffer losses.
The administration was engaged in relief work throughout the night.
The administration remained at the spot throughout the night to smooth the 16 km long traffic jam from Patlikuhal to Manali. Tourists coming to Manali from other states remained stranded in vehicles overnight. The administration tried to reach out to every tourist and provided them food items.

SDM Manali Raman Kumar Sharma himself remained at the spot till late night. He said that although the machines continued to restore the road, the relief work was affected due to the intensification of snowfall. He said that the administration tried to reach out to the tourists till late night and provide them relief.
What does SDM say?
SDM said that the relief work has been intensified as soon as the morning came. Restoration of the Left Bank Road including the National Highway has been started. Snow has also been removed from the roads of Manali city. Soon the tourists will reach their destination.
The SDM urged the tourists staying in Manali hotels not to come out of the hotels until the situation becomes normal. Avoid driving on snow. Travel only in 4-Y-Four vehicles with a local driver.
