Communication partner, Mahendragarh. The municipality's ongoing encroachment removal campaign in Mahendragarh city created a big controversy on Monday. During the campaign, the anger of the traders came out openly and there was a tense situation for some time at Balaji Chowk. Traders made serious allegations against the administration of discriminating by taking action against selected shops. As per the instructions of Sub Divisional Officer (SDM) Kanika Goyal, shopkeepers of the city were ordered to remove encroachments by Sunday. In compliance with the order, the municipal team reached the major market areas of the city on Monday afternoon to take action. Meanwhile, the nearby shopkeepers protested against the action taken at a medicine seller's shop at Balaji Chowk. The traders said that a mobile shopkeeper located nearby has made permanent encroachment by building a concrete verandah about eight feet long, but the administration did not take any action on it. The traders clearly said that they are in favor of making the city encroachment free and as per the orders of ADM Kanika Goyal, the city has been made almost encroachment free and they will give full cooperation to the administration. But the action must be fair and equitable. There is anger among traders due to the action taken targeting selected shops.

The traders demanded from the municipal administration that first the permanent encroachment should be removed and then action should be taken against the temporary encroachment. Traders warned that if the discriminatory actions were not stopped, they would be forced to carry out mass agitation.
