Jagran correspondent, Shimla. Detailed oscillation trials of NG power cars will be conducted on Kalka-Shimla narrow gauge section. The trial will be held on Tuesday from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. According to railway officials, the trials are being conducted after making modifications to the luggage and guard compartments of the power car. During the trials, the train will be run at a maximum speed of 28 km per hour. This test is being conducted as per the guidelines of RDSO and the approvals issued earlier.
Coaches including power cars will be included
The trial special train will run recording and non-recording runs on scheduled sections between Kalka and Shimla. The train structure specially formed for this will include power cars and other necessary coaches.
Technical inspection will be done
Railway administration has given instructions to ensure all necessary arrangements keeping security in mind. Special emphasis has been laid on track inspection, checking of braking system, automatic emergency braking system and maintaining communication system. Security arrangements will also be deployed by RPF.
There will be technical improvements in the operation of trains
After the success of this test, technical improvements and safety standards in the operation of narrow gauge trains can be further strengthened. According to this, the toy train will now run at a speed of 28 kilometers per hour on the heritage railway narrow gauge track.
RDSO was already considering
The team of Research Design and Standards Organization (RDSO), Lucknow, was already considering running trains at a speed of 22.5 to 30 km per hour on this narrow gauge track.
Speed will be 23 to 28 per hour
The train covers the distance of 96 kilometers from Kalka to Shimla in an average of 5 hours at a speed of 23 KMPH. Now if its speed is 28 km per hour, this distance will be covered in about 4.30 hours.
