State Bureau, New Delhi. Transport Minister Dr Pankaj Kumar Singh on Saturday explained in detail about the government's multi-dimensional and collective efforts to tackle air pollution. Stating that the share of transport sector in the total pollution of Delhi is about 20-25 percent, Dr Singh stressed on adequate e-buses in public transport to overcome it.
The Minister said that due to the initiatives of our government, EV mobility in public transport has increased. Not only this, we have so far included 3518 electric buses in the fleet of Delhi Transport Corporation. Said that our target is to increase the number of electric buses to more than 5000 by March next year and to more than 7000 by November 2026.
The minister said that emphasis has been laid on pollution control enforcement. 12,200 challans were issued in the last three days of the campaign. 446 challans were issued in violation of Group-Four restrictions. 1,492 vehicles entering Delhi were sent back. 24-hour PUCC checking system is implemented at petrol pumps. Enforcement operations are also being conducted at 15 major entry gates of the capital.
