Gold worth more than Rs 2 crore hidden in meat grinder seized (file photo)
Digital Desk, New Delhi. The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) on Saturday seized gold worth Rs 2.89 crore hidden in a meat grinder sent from Saudi Arabia at the International Courier Terminal in Mumbai.
An official said that on receiving the information, DRI's Mumbai zonal team started searching for the consignment, which was reported to contain meat grinder. When the machine was opened, 32 cut pieces of gold were recovered from it.
He said that a total of 1.815 kg of gold was seized under the Customs Act. Its price is Rs 2.89 crore. DRI has arrested two people in this case. They were called to collect the goods coming from Riyadh and help in their evacuation.
