State Bureau, Jagran, Kolkata. Keeping in mind the upcoming assembly elections, the first visit of BJP's new national president Nitin Naveen to Bengal has become a topic of discussion in political circles. The special thing is that the capital Kolkata is completely left out during his two-day state tour.
Nitin will land at Andal airport on Tuesday and his entire program will be centered around Durgapur and Asansol. They will also return from Andal itself. According to BJP sources, the main objective of this tour is to strengthen the organization at the grassroots level.
The question being raised is why West Bardhaman was chosen for the first trip, leaving Kolkata aside. Political analysts believe that BJP's strategy this time is to focus specifically on the North Bengal region, which includes East and West Bardhaman, Bankura, Purulia and Birbhum. The center point of this area is Durgapur, where the number of non-Bengali voters is relatively high.
2019 BJP got success
The BJP had achieved notable success in North Bengal in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, but suffered a setback in the 2021 Assembly and 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The party is now trying to regain that lost ground. The organizational base of BJP is still considered strong in Durgapur-Asansol region.
According to the programme, Nitin Naveen will participate in party programs and hold an organizational meeting in Durgapur on Tuesday evening. On Wednesday, he will return from Andal after holding meetings in Durgapur and Asansol. This visit clearly indicates that BJP is focusing directly on strategic areas before the assembly elections.
