India will buy oil from Venezuela instead of Iran - Trump
New Delhi. US President Donald Trump is upset over the fact that India buys oil from Russia. At the same time, due to American sanctions, it has been difficult for India to buy oil from Iran. Now meanwhile, a new statement has come from Trump. According to Trump's new statement, India will now buy oil from Venezuela instead of Iran. Trump has said, "China is welcome to come and make a great deal on oil... We have already made a deal. India is coming, and instead of buying oil from Iran, they will buy oil from Venezuela. So, we have already conceptualized the deal...".
Buy oil from Venezuela except Russia-Iran
"We've made that deal, the concept of the deal is ready," Trump said, according to the White House. Trump's comments come a day after the US told India that it may soon resume purchasing Venezuelan oil to help replace Russian oil imports. That means Trump wants India to buy oil from Venezuela instead of Russia-Iran.
Trump's control over Venezuelan oil
Trump has said that after capturing former Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro in January, America has taken control of the oil-rich country. A fleet of 18 ships loaded with crude oil departed from Venezuela in January for refineries in Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi, the most since December 2024.
What is Trump's plan?
America's efforts to supply Venezuelan crude oil to India are being made at a time when Washington wants to reduce the oil revenue received by Russia for the war in Ukraine. In March last year, Trump had imposed a 25% tariff on countries buying Venezuelan oil, which included India. Trump also said on Saturday that China is also welcome to make a deal with the US to buy Venezuelan oil.
