Uncontrolled Crane Crushes 73-year-old Elderly Woman In Dwarka, Delhi, She Dies On The Spot

Jagran correspondent, West Delhi. A high-speed and uncontrolled crane crushed a 73-year-old elderly woman crossing the road in Dwarka area on Tuesday afternoon. The accident was so horrific that the woman died on the spot. The deceased has been identified as Meena Gupta, resident of Mohan Garden.

According to the police, Meena Gupta was going to Dwarka to meet her sons on Tuesday afternoon. Meanwhile, while crossing the road near the red light of Dwarka turn, a high speed crane coming from Najafgarh moved towards him. Eyewitnesses say that the woman even signaled the driver to stop, but the speed of the crane was so fast that the driver could not reduce its speed and the old man came under both the wheels of the crane. People present nearby immediately informed the police. The police officer said that the Dwarka North police station had received a PCR call at around 12 noon. The PCR team that reached the spot found a woman soaked in blood who was immediately rushed to the nearest hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead. The police detained the crane driver from the spot and confiscated the crane. After preliminary investigation, the driver was released on bail. Manoj Gupta, son of the deceased, told that he lives in Dwaraka A Ward area. His parents live in Mohan Garden. Even at this age she was very healthy and active. Just a month ago he had celebrated the 50th wedding anniversary of his parents. Manoj told that his father Satyaprakash Gupta is 75 years old, works as a property dealer and is suffering from diabetes, who was looked after by Meena Gupta.

Police have registered an FIR in this case under sections related to culpable homicide. The crane's documents, fitness and driver's license are being checked. The footage of CCTV cameras installed around the incident site is also being scrutinized so that the circumstances of the accident can be confirmed.
