State Bureau, Jagran, Lucknow: The winter session of the 18th Assembly of Uttar Pradesh will be held from December 19. The notification for winter session was released on Friday. The session will convene on December 19 at 11 am. The deceased members will be honored on the first day. The session will continue till December 24.
The session of the UP Legislature will begin from December 19, the last day of the winter session of Parliament going on in Delhi. On Tuesday, the Cabinet approved its proposal by circulation. It was sent to the Governor for final approval, from where the approval has been received. Like every time, this session can also be turbulent. Opposition parties can work to corner the state government on the issue of SIR. Even though the duration of the session is short, the agenda of the session includes many important legislative tasks.
As per tradition, the session will begin with paying tribute to the deceased public representatives. The state government can present the first supplementary budget of the current financial year in this session. According to the information, the supplementary budget can be tabled in the House on December 22. Apart from this, there are also preparations to introduce more than ten bills. The focus of the state government is going to be on rural development, road construction, clean drinking water, basic facilities including housing.
This session being held before the Panchayat elections is also considered to be very sensitive politically. The opposition is already attacking the Special Intensive Review Campaign (SIR) going on across the state. SP, Congress and other parties have prepared a strategy to corner the government in the House. Along with this, the opposition may try to put the government in the dock regarding law and order, unemployment and inflation, farmers' problems, women's safety and recent controversial incidents.
At the same time, the Yogi Adityanath government is preparing to present the major schemes, development works and achievements of its second term during the session. There is also a plan to convert many ordinances issued in the last months into law by bringing them in the form of bills. Despite being short overall, this winter session of the UP Legislature is going to be very busy and politically heated. On one hand, the government is busy in taking forward the development works and budget, while on the other hand, the opposition is preparing to attack the government strongly on issues ranging from SIR to law and order and inflation.
