While Gorakhpur, Barabanki, Sultanpur, Ghazipur, Basti, Sonbhadra, Aligarh and Etawah remained cold during the day, Varanasi, Bahraich, Hardoi, Ballia, Prayagraj, Ghazipur, Amethi, Moradabad, Jhansi, Hamirpur and Agra also remained cold. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of slight improvement in these districts till Monday. In many districts, schools from nursery to class eight have been closed due to winter. The effect of fog was also clearly visible on road, rail and air services.
The speed of vehicles on highways and expressways has slowed down, while many trains passing through the state are running late. Due to fog, a flight was canceled at Lucknow airport on Sunday. According to the Meteorological Department, moderate to dense fog will persist in many districts on Monday morning. There is a possibility of gradual increase in temperature and reduction in fog density in the coming two to three days.
After this, the temperature will drop again and the density of fog will increase. The maximum temperature in Lucknow on Sunday was 18.9 degrees Celsius, which is 4.1 degrees Celsius less than normal. Similarly, the minimum temperature was 10.1 degrees Celsius, which was two degrees above normal. Vande Bharat Express (train number 22416) from Delhi to Varanasi left Delhi itself three hours late at 6 pm on Saturday. The train, which was supposed to arrive at 7:08 pm, arrived at Kanpur Central Station at 12 midnight late by five hours.
Passengers were not even given food in the train
During this time, food was not even given to the passengers in the train. Hungry passengers expressed their displeasure. Central Station Director Ashutosh Singh said that food should have been given as per the rules. It is being ascertained why it was not given. Barauni-New Delhi Express reached Central Station with a delay of 16 hours. It remained cloudy throughout the day in Prayagraj, due to which there was no sunlight. Due to dense fog, almost all the trains reaching Prayagraj Junction were delayed by 5 to 6 hours. After two days, light sunshine was seen in Moradabad division on Sunday.
The sun did not rise throughout the day in Varanasi and the visibility was around 600 meters. Due to dense fog, trains were delayed by 2.5 to 19 hours. Two flights from Delhi and one from Ahmedabad coming to Varanasi were cancelled. People got some relief due to sunshine in Bareilly, whereas in Agra, after fog in the morning, sunshine came out in the afternoon, but cold winds continued to bother. Due to lack of warmth in the sun for two days in Meerut, the feeling of melting increased.
