Controversy over dumping OB in the pond has not stopped, rural women stopped transporting

Communication Assistant, Loyabad (Dhanbad). The controversy over dumping of OB by the outsourcing company in the pond located at Kankani Lower Dhora is not stopping. Apprehensive about the filling of the pond, the women of Lower Dhora stopped the transportation of OB dump on Wednesday and sat on strike there.

Women raised slogans against outsourcing and Kankani colliery management. Due to stoppage of transportation, long queues of vehicles formed there. The matter calmed down after the outsourcing and colliery officials tried to convince them and assured that they will not dump OB in the pond at present.

Transportation was disrupted for about two hours. Due to which long queues of vehicles formed on both sides. At around 12 noon, the transportation of OB was stopped under the leadership of Putul Devi. As soon as the news was received, colliery and outsourcing officials reached the spot and tried to pacify the villagers, but during this the officials got into an altercation with the villagers.

Here a signed application has been given by the villagers in Loyabad police station. In which the villagers have accused the outsourcing company of closing the natural drain and said that if this pond is filled, this area will drown during the rainy season.

Aditya Singh, director of the outsourcing company, said that the Sijua Area Survey Department team will take stock of the area for water drainage. A drain will be constructed to drain rain water.

Colliery PO Dheeraj Kumar Sinha said that this land belongs to BCCL. OB will be dumped in the pond under any circumstances. Apart from this, there is no other option to run the project. Dozens of women including Putul Dev, Champa Devi, Kanchan Devi, Pooja Devi, Tetri Devi were among those who protested.
